Steve DeTray began his career in wealth management in 2004, helping business owners strategically plan for the sale and transition of their businesses. His early work centered on income and estate planning, guiding clients through the complexities that come after a sale—especially the transition into retirement and the new challenges that come with that next season of life.
In 2019, Steve sold his highly successful wealth management practice—an experience that, despite his accomplishments, taught him firsthand the pitfalls of rushing an exit. Selling for well below industry averages sparked a personal mission: to ensure other business owners don’t repeat his mistake.
Today, as a Certified Exit Planning Advisor, Accredited Value Guide, and Certified Value Builder Advisor, Steve is an expert in helping business owners maximize the value of their companies and exit on their own terms. Using a proven 21-step system, he helps measure, grow, and unlock business value—while empowering owners to create organizations that thrive without their constant involvement.
